How to travel to Fundão

If you are attending the OASC Conference 2026 in Fundão, we recommend prioritising public transport as the most sustainable way to travel. Fundão is well-connected by train and bus services, making it accessible from major Portuguese cities such as Lisbon and Porto. You can reach Fundão by taking a train on the Beira Baixa Line or by using intercity bus connections. Be sure to check schedules in advance, especially in relation to your arrival time, as services may vary throughout the day.

BY PLANE

The nearest major airports to Fundão are:

Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) 

Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO)

Both airports are well connected to Fundão via train and bus routes.

From the airport, you can take the metro or a shuttle to the city centre train or bus stations, then continue your journey to Fundão.

BY TRAIN

Fundão is served by CP – Comboios de Portugal, on the Beira Baixa Line.

From Lisbon:
You can take a direct train from Lisbon (Lisboa – Santa Apolónia or Oriente stations) or from Entroncamento, a key railway junction.

From Porto:

You can take a metro from the airport metro station to Campanhã train station and then take a train to Entroncamento. Then you can exchange to the Fundão train station.

BY BUS

Several intercity bus services operate to Fundão, including Rede Expressos. 

Buses depart from Lisbon (Sete Rios terminal) and Porto (Campo 24 de Agosto terminal) with direct routes to Fundão.

BY TAXI

Taxis are available in Fundão and can be booked by phone or found at central locations like the train station.

While Fundão does not have regular Uber/Bolt coverage, local taxi services offer similar flexibility.

For short distances within the city, walking is often a convenient option.

BY CAR

Fundão is easily accessible by car via the A23 (Autoestrada da Beira Interior). Approximate driving times:

From Lisbon:
2 hours 30 minutes

From Porto:
2 hours 15 minutes

From Coimbra:
1 hour 30 minutes

There is parking available in the city and near most hotels and conference venues.
