Biography

Laura Galante is a consultant in the Research and Innovation team. She has acquired a diverse range of expertise across the academic, NGO, public, and private sectors in the fields of communication and democratic innovation. She has extensive knowledge of citizen engagement practices for policymaking, as well as journalism and media practices. She has organised stakeholder engagement events for public policy as well as implemented media monitoring tools for communication strategy evaluation. Laura also has successfully applied a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, such as semi-structured interviews, surveys, and field observation. She also has didactic experience through teaching and training and is a strong networker and public speaker.

Previously, Laura worked as Project Manager in the NGO Democratic Society, leading on-the-ground observations of citizen panels for the official evaluation on the Conference on the Future of Europe. She also organised citizen engagement events for the European Parliament and led Citizen Engagement for Policy trainings for the European Commission. She also worked as a Junior Lecturer in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam and was a Blue Book Trainee in DG COMM’s Citizens Dialogue Unit.

Laura obtained her undergraduate diploma in Liberal Arts from Amsterdam University College and her Masters Erasmus Mundus degree in Journalism, Media and Globalisation from the University of Amsterdam and the University of Aarhus. She is fluent in English and Italian, has advanced knowledge of Spanish, and intermediate knowledge of French and Dutch.
