Executive Director, City of Tampere
Teppo Rantanen is the Executive Director of the City of Tampere, a role he has held since 2016, where he oversees economic policy, competitiveness, innovation, smart cities, employment, education, and city real estate assets. With a career spanning decades, Teppo’s work is characterised by leadership in both the public and private sectors, focusing on innovation-driven urban development and strategic economic growth.
In addition to his executive role, Teppo serves in numerous leadership and advisory positions. He is a Board Member at Business Finland, Taratest Oy, and Beamex, and the Chairman of the Board for entities including Nurmi Resort Oy, Tampereen Sähköverkko Oy, and KKOY Tampereen Virastotalo, among others. He has played a significant part in advancing smart city solutions through his work with the Smart City Innovation Cluster (SCIC.IO) and has contributed to societal impact through organisations like World Vision Finland and Lasten ja Nuorten Säätiö.
Previously, Teppo was a Senior Partner and Managing Partner at Deloitte, including serving on the Global TMT Executive Team and leading international initiatives. He began his career at Arthur Andersen, where he held pivotal roles such as Country Audit Partner and Nordic Risk Consulting Leader.
Teppo is recognised for his strategic insights, governance expertise, and commitment to innovation in both private enterprise and public administration. He continues to shape Tampere’s and Finland’s development as a global hub for innovation, smart cities, and sustainable growth.
