Senior Specialist, Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications

Kristine Alanko is a recognised expert in AI and EU policy, with a distinguished career focused on crafting and implementing strategies at the intersection of technology and governance. Currently serving as Senior Specialist in the Data, Safety, and Security Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Finland, she oversees interministerial AI coordination under the Finnish Coordination Group for Digitalisation.

Her career highlights include pivotal roles at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland. From 2021 to 2023, Kristine was responsible for national coordination of Finland’s position on the EU Artificial Intelligence Act proposal. Additionally, she played a central role in advancing Finland’s Artificial Intelligence 4.0 programme, fostering innovation and collaboration to support the country’s digital transformation.
